I'm trying to fix a computer for someone with a virus/spyware

A window pops up saying:

Warning! Spyware detected on your computer? Install an antivirus or
spyware remover to clean your computer. Bugs crawling on desktop

Seems to be the same thing has found here, but using these tricks
hasn't solved it yet.
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic145964.html#entry820445

Later, another window poped up. Malware Alert!

Attention! Adware.W32.SpyShredder spyware detected.

I found this, and i'm trying it out now.
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic149461.html#entry837836

Has anyone seen these problems lately?

Machine has Trend Micro Antivirus (Up to date) and Windows updates are
updates are not too far out of date, perhaps a month or so. Still
using SP2 rather than SP3 I think.

1. Download and execute HiJack This! (HJT)
http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/threat_analytics/HJTInstall.exe

2. Disable Notepad's word wrap:
In Notepad.exe; Format --> uncheck; "Word wrap"

3. Download/run Deckard's System Scanner:
http://www.techsupportforum.com/sectools/Deckard/dss.exe

4. Save the scan results (Main.txt and Extra.txt)

5. And then post the contents of Main.txt and Extra.txt in your post in one of the below
expert forums...

{ Please - Do NOT post the HJT and Deckard's System Scanner Logs here ! }

From a liar that pretends to be an MVP? I don't bother with warez

No he has not. If he had he would know the crap he spouts out is wrong so he
won't because then he would have to stop all his BS.

In MY opinion:
Butts is old news...there are plenty of posts and a lot of history to
indicate that ths software is to be avoided. Google for evidence.

You don't have to jump off a cliff to know it's too high. <smile>

Yes. All revisions (SuperFix, SpyErase and the present versions of Remove-IT) since Butts
starting plagiarizing Stuart Saunders' work called RogueFix [
http://www.internetinspiration.co.uk/roguefix.htm ]. When it was almost 100% the same
(except for personal attribution strings) the installer was password protected. However,
"we" (the real anti malware community) had the passwords of several revisions. Remove-IT
includeed "dummy code" that is NOT a part of any malware, inserted into RougeFix and was
documented by the anti malware community, and that code was subsequently found in and is
still a part of Remove-It. Then Butts extracted the .REG file creation in the batch file to
separate .REG files and made the installer available w/o password protection.

It is still based on plagiarizing Stuart Saunders past and present work. It has been
examined by ASAP members as well as others in the anti malware community. Butts is NOT a
part of that community and he is NOT a "MS MVP" (which has a specific legal conotation).
Additionally Butts plagiarized the MVP Hosts file [
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm ] and inserted a modified version into the
Remove-It utility process. He removed the personal attributes of the author who is a MS MVP
and took out the line items blocking the PCBUTTS1.COM web site. He then inserted
*legitimate* web sites (to block their access) of anti malware utilities/authors because
they were willing to state the truth about Butts' propaganda, plagiarism and lie campaigns.

If one examines the MVP Hosts or the HpHosts files you will find that PCBUTTS1.COM is
blocked. One must ask why if Buttss is really a "MS MVP", how come his web site would be
included in the MVP Hosts File. It is also a fact that PCBUTTS1.COM is blocked by the NOSCs
of several divisions of the US Government.

Yes, as many others have.

Do you think the entire anti-malware community would shun butts if it
had not been evaluated and found to be a copy of other peoples works?

Awww been saving that one up a long time huh David. Are you going to start
your email campaign again. I see you are still pissed about your failures
and the fact that you had to use a foreign site to host your stolen
multi-crap slow ass antivirus. I don't have to do that because mine is not
stolen. Still hoping for that MVP invite aren't you Dave, you jealous of me
because I am one. This is getting kinda old now. GROW UP AND GET OVER IT!
The truth is exactly what you see. Remove-it is not rougefix never has been
never will be. Rougefix is a stolen knock off of Remove-it. The only hidden
code is what I put in to catch the thief. Remove-it works on win2000 and XP
the stolen rougefix does not, it's part of the code I put in to prevent
that. Remove-it has a Vista version, the stolen rougefix does not. Remove-it
V20 Beta 1 works on 2000,XP, and Vista and has a GUI interface, the stolen
rougefix does not. Now don't start your lying shit here again with me just
face the fact that I am better then you and that you are beneath me and
always will be.
